How to Improve the Precision and Accuracy of the Technical Assessment of Left Ventricular Diastolic Function: Technical Review and Case Studies
The analysis and interpretation of Doppler and 2 D echocardiographic parameters of diastolic function require integrated data to be precisely and accurately acquired. The primary goal of 2016 ASE guidelines was to simplify the approach to the LV diastolic function and thus increase the utility of the guidelines in daily clinical practice. However, the position of sample volumes and calipers as well as the acquisition and optimization of the Doppler signal and 2 D imaging should still and always be carefully examined as all the specific values obtained are technically dependent. The objective of this presentation is to review the technique and the important considerations of each echocardiographic parameter; going beyond the "simplified" table of the guidelines.
